February is one of my favorite months because there is so much to celebrate! With Valentine’s Day being in the middle of the month, there are so many cute ways to help your students feel the LOVE all month long! Here are my favorite February activities, as well as some fabulous (low prep) decor ideas for your classroom!
FEBRUARY CRACK THE CODE
I wrote a whole blog post HERE about the February Crack the Code which is part of the year long Crack the Code Growing Bundle! Like all of my Crack the Codes, there are 6 challenges students work through in the areas of math, reading, writing, stem, puzzles, and a secret decoder! This Crack the Code ties very nicely in with celebrating Valentine’s Day and is the perfect activity to enjoy during the month of February! You can grab both items below!
FEBRUARY GUESS THAT WORD
GUESS THAT WORD FEBRUARY is one of my favorite games to play with students and has quickly become a BEST SELLER in my shop! This activity will have your entire class laughing and is part of the GROWING GUESS THAT WORD BUNDLE which includes a Guess That Word game for every month of the school year!
All students have to do is get their classmate to say the large word at the top of the slide. Sounds easy enough right? Well it gets a lot harder when they can’t use the 3 bullet-ed words as part of their description! Students will have a blast as they work hard to describe to their classmates what the projected word on the board is. The student who is guessing the word will certainly feel the pressure while playing GUESS THAT WORD! Context clues, synonyms & antonyms, and describing words are just a few of the ELA standards you can touch on while enjoying this activity!
This is a NO PREP game! Simply open the file and you’re ready to play! There are 30 word displays in this game so each student can have a turn being in the hot seat! When playing, I suggest having all students sitting at the carpet/their seats while the student in the hot seat stands/sits in front of the smart board (with their back to it). This ensures that the student in the hot seat won’t see what word is projected on the board.
There are 4 GAME OPTIONS so it’s perfect for every grade level! Use the game where students can’t say the 3 bullet-ed words to make it the most challenging, or 2 bullet-ed words to make it slightly easier. There are also options for only 1 word the students can’t say, and an option with just the projected word and a visual picture for our pre-k and kindergarten friends to use!
FEBRUARY TRIVIA
February Trivia is a fun and interactive game that students can play whole class. The intent is NOT that the students already know the answers. Its purpose is for students to LEARN new and interesting facts about November that they did not know prior to completing this activity! For example did you know that 18.2 billion dollars is spent yearly on Valentine’s Day gifts?! With over 30 TRIVIA QUESTIONS, students will have so much fun while learning some really neat facts about the month of February!
This is a NO PREP game! Simply open the file and you’re ready to play!
Make this game what you want it to be! You can play it whole class with students raising their hands to guess answers. You can have teams playing where students use a whiteboard to display their team’s answer. This activity can be played all in one sitting OR perhaps you give a few trivia questions at the end of each day throughout the month of February!
FEBRUARY CLASS REWARDS
Digital class rewards are a great way to keep students on track and motivated to work on their behavior daily! With weekly templates to choose from (and growing), students will work hard to earn items to be placed on each template such as placing sprinkles on a donut! Each template has move-able pieces to be added to the template for good behavior (items listed below). Here are my favorite templates to use for the month of February!
This resources has a new template for EVERY WEEK of the school year! This resource includes both the CLASSROOM set, as well as the Guest Teacher set! These are perfect for when a substitute/guest teacher is in your classroom!
FEBRUARY BITMOJI WATCHES
Ya’ll know I love incorporating Bitmojis into my classroom! Students think it is hysterical to see their teacher’s personalized Bitmoji on various items throughout the classroom. I love handing out these paper watches to students for earns! These adorable (and editable) Bitmoji Watches have over 200 patterns to use throughout the year. There are patterns for holidays/birthdays/events and many more! Here are some of the February themed watches! Use these to recognize when students are working hard, following directions, and being a great friend etc. To make it easy, simply print and cut into strips and then as students earn them they can cut them out themselves!
